Cowl Tag Auto Parts LLC operates cowltag.com. We are based in Scottsdale, Arizona. This policy covers this website and the quotes and orders that start here.
What we collect
- What you send us. Your name, email address, phone number if you give one, ZIP code or shipping address, vehicle details including the VIN, and the contents of your message.
- Order details. What you ordered, what you paid and where it shipped. Card details are entered on our payment processor’s secure page and never reach us.
- Basic server logs. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type and pages requested, as every web server does, to keep the site running and secure.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking.
- This site sets no cookies of its own, and none for advertising or analytics. Our hosting provider may set one that is strictly needed for security.
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
What stays on your device
When you choose a vehicle, the site remembers the year, make and model in your browser’s local storage so the next page can start from it. It stays on your device until you press Request a part, which carries the vehicle to the request form. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
The VIN check
When you use the VIN check, or type a full VIN into the request form, your browser sends the VIN to the public vehicle database run by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. We do not receive that lookup. We receive a VIN only when you carry it into a request or send it with the form.
How we use what we collect
- To match parts to your vehicle and prepare a quote
- To process payment, ship the order and send tracking
- To handle returns, warranty claims and questions
- To keep the business records the law requires
We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Who sees it
We share only what each party needs to do its job:
- The distributor that ships your part and the carrier that delivers it receive your name, shipping address and phone number.
- Our payment processor receives your payment details.
- Our service providers for website hosting and email handle the data that passes through them.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep requests and order records only as long as we need them for the purposes above and to meet tax and accounting rules.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do so unless the law requires us to keep a record. Contact us at the contact form. We answer within 30 days and never treat you differently for asking.
Marketplace purchases
If you buy from us through a marketplace such as eBay, the marketplace collects your information under its own privacy policy and passes us what we need to fulfill the order.
Children
This site is for adults. You must be 18 or older to order. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us details, tell us and we delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new effective date.
